E.K. Nation Oscar Predictions Gasoline Fire
First things first: Martin Scorsese will finally get his Oscar. The Academy simply will not let the drought continue. Congrats, Marty.
Best Supporting Actor and Actress will come from Dreamgirls in the form of Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson. We're still reeling, pondering this possibility: Eddie Murphy and an American Idol finalist, of all people, will likely have Oscars handed to them on Sunday.
Forest Whitaker is going to win Best Actor for playing Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland, and Helen Mirren will finally get one for herself for The Queen.
Best Picture is a tough call, just like last year. One of two films will win, either Babel or The Departed. We're going to be watching Babel within the hour, so our judgment is based on seeing only The Departed, which is a great film, but we don't think it has that Best Picture quality to it. Can we just say that Babelparted will win? No? Won't work? Okay. We're going to go with Babel, because Roger Ebert said it would win and we believe him. He got Crash right last year, and for cryin' out loud, he got Shakespeare In Love right when it beat Saving Private Ryan. Which is still one of the things on The List Of Ridiculous Things That Have Happened.
