NYC Mayor: "Pedro Should Have Been Arrested"

Well, here's a bit of lunacy that I just now caught a glimpse of. New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg wants Pedro Martinez arrested for his actions in Game 3 over the weekend.
"If that happened in New York we would have arrested the perpetrator," Bloomberg said. "Nobody should throw a 70-year-old man to the ground, period. You start doing that pretty soon you're going to throw a 61-year-old man to the ground, and I have a big vested interest in that."
Nobody should throw, or at least try to throw, a nearly 32-year-old man to the ground either. I'm 32 myself, so I guess I have a vested interest in that. So, Hizzoner, what do you propose we do to the 72-year-old man who was the one doing the actual attacking? As you said yourself here, "You just cannot assault people, even if it's on a baseball field." And I suppose in the special town that is New York City they would seek summonses against Red Sox players who (allegedly) attack Yankee groundskeepers, right? Well, cool, because the Beantown Cops are following your lead and considering arresting Jeff Nelson and Karim Garcia, because you can't assault someone on a baseball field.
A copy of the police report, which was posted on The Boston Globe's Web site, stated that Nelson "was observed pushing/grabbing the victim in the chest area at which time both parties fell to the ground where Jeff Nelson began punching and flaring his legs at the victim." The report also stated that several other members of the Yankees bullpen "jumped on the victim," and right fielder Garcia jumped the outfield wall, entered the bullpen and began "striking down at the victim with his left hand."
Ah, New Yawk.

If Florida were to face Kerry Wood tonight, they might have a chance; they got to him in Game 3, scoring three runs in seven innings, pretty decent against Wood right now. But the Fish have to face Mark Prior tonight and get past him to force a Game 7 and I don't think it will happen. It will probably be something like 8-1 Cubs.
