"Not So, Oakland"

Wow. What a game last night in Oakland. Anytime a baseball game not featuring the Giants makes me nervous, that's a good thing.

Derek Lowe came up huge in the ninth, thwarting an attempted rally by the A's with two amazing called third strikes on the last two hitters. (Apparently there was a to-do about Lowe's celebration that I hadn't noticed.)

But I must say there is another curse involving the Red Sox. I noticed that all of the Sox players who had long or otherwise scruffy or scraggly hair have gotten haircuts in the last couple of days or at least recently, almost to the point of buzzcuts for all of them: Lowe, Kevin Millar, Todd Walker, Manny Ramirez...

...except for...Johnny Damon.

And he left last night's game courtesy American Medical Response.

Let's just say I've already made an appointment at Shear Pleasure for this afternoon.
